Blue-Ribbon Commission On
The Blue-Ribbon Commission on Seminary Milestones has been established to envision, plan, and coordinate Columbia’s observance of two landmark moments in our institutional history: the 100th anniversary of Columbia Theological Seminary’s move to Decatur in 2027 and the Seminary’s Bicentennial in 2028.
The Commission will provide strategic leadership to ensure continuity of theme, message, and purpose across these commemorations, integrating historical and theological reflection, institutional storytelling, alumni and church engagement, fundraising opportunities, and public witness.
These anniversaries represent far more than opportunities to celebrate longevity. They invite us to give thanks for those who have carried Columbia’s mission before us, to tell our history with integrity, to discern what God is calling us to become, and to position the Seminary faithfully for the generations that will follow.
The Commission brings together representatives from across the life of Columbia—including faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, and other friends and partners of the Seminary.

The Commission will work in collaboration with the President’s Council and Board of Trustees, with the Office of Institutional Advancement serving as the primary administrative liaison. Tim Norton will provide guidance from Institutional Advancement, and Sarah Rivera will provide administrative support to the Commission.
