Commission
Our Reformed theological tradition reminds us that covenant is more than agreement; it describes a way of living faithfully in relationship with God and one another. Likewise, reconciliation calls us toward truth-telling, justice, repair, renewed relationships, and the difficult but sacred work of building and rebuilding trust.
The Covenant & Reconciliation Commission will serve as a collaborative platform for theological reflection, institutional learning, and practical implementation. Its work will seek to strengthen a campus culture characterized by trust, belonging, mutual accountability, intercultural understanding, restorative practices, and faithful discernment by developing a two-year action plan for consideration by the President’s Council, with implementation beginning in the Spring of 2027. The plan will also incorporate appropriate consultation and recommendations from Columbia’s existing governance structures, including the Executive Committee of the Faculty and the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.
The Covenant & Reconciliation Commission will represent the breadth of our Seminary community so that this work is not confined to any one office or constituency but becomes a genuinely shared institutional responsibility.
