Baccalaureate & Commencement


Columbia Theological Seminary will celebrate the Class of 2026 during Baccalaureate and Commencement weekend on May 22–23, 2026. Graduates, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends will gather to recognize this important milestone in the life of the Seminary community.

Baccalaureate Service

Friday, May 22, 2026

Baccalaureate is the Seminary’s worship service for graduating students, offering a time of reflection, prayer, music, and blessing as graduates prepare for their next season of ministry, leadership, and service.

This year’s Baccalaureate speaker will be Rev. Dr. Gina Marcia Stewart, an accomplished pastor, preacher, visionary leader, teacher, and community advocate.

Parking
Parking is available in the church lot accessible from Church Street, as well as in the Decatur Library parking deck behind the library (which is adjacent to the church), with an entrance from Sycamore Street. Please do not park in the spaces marked “Library Staff”. There will also be additional accessible parking for those with mobility issues directly across from the Church at the Sycamore House on Sycamore Street, or in the lane between the Church and the Decatur Library, with a wheelchair ramp nearby.

Reception
A reception for all attendees will take place immediately after the service in the church’s Keith Parlor.

Commencement Ceremony

The Commencement ceremony formally recognizes the academic accomplishments of the Class of 2026 through the conferring of degrees.

The Rev. Dr. Victor Aloyo, Jr., President of Columbia Theological Seminary, will deliver the Commencement charge to graduates.

Parking
Ample parking is available around the church, including accessible parking spaces.

Seating
Open seating is available to all staff, non-graduating students, and guests, except in designated spaces.

Reception
A reception for all attendees will take place immediately after the service in the church’s Williams Hall.

Livestreams

Both services will be livestreamed on Columbia’s YouTube channel for family members, alumni, and friends unable to attend in person.
