Columbia Sees Significant Growth in New Student Enrollment

DECATUR, Ga. — Columbia Theological Seminary has welcomed one of its strongest incoming classes in recent years, with enrollment nearly doubling over last fall. The increase signals growing interest in Columbia’s distinctive approach to theological education and leadership formation.

The incoming class represents a diverse and dynamic community of students who bring a rich array of gifts, experiences, perspectives, and vocational aspirations. Representing eight countries, 13 states, and 15 denominations, this class reflects the broad reach of Columbia’s mission, with 35% identifying with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). These students join Columbia’s learning and formational community at a time of renewed momentum, growing engagement, and strong institutional vitality.

President Victor Aloyo praised the Seminary’s enrollment team for its extraordinary work in cultivating relationships with prospective students and accompanying them through the discernment process.

“This encouraging growth is the result of persistence, creativity, strategic engagement, and an unwavering commitment to walking alongside prospective students as they discern God’s call on their lives,” said Aloyo. “Our newest students bring remarkable gifts, experiences, and aspirations to Columbia.”

The Seminary formally welcomed the new students during orientation activities last week and today’s opening of the academic year, marking the beginning of their journey of theological education, spiritual formation, and leadership development.
