This course examines artificial intelligence through the theological, ethical, and practical lens of chaplaincy. Students will explore AI’s development and impact, with attention to concerns around labor, environment, bias, and privacy. The course considers theological questions of embodiment, personhood, and human distinctiveness, as well as emerging uses of AI in pastoral ministry and spiritual care. Students will develop the theological and ethical discernment needed to engage emerging technologies while preserving the relational, embodied, and human dimensions of chaplaincy.
